My latest ear addiction is Drone, and there isn’t even a damn CD yet. Drone is an electronic music artist in the glitch style. It’s very cool, catchy and progressive stuff.
There’s a very cool video by Drone of the song Strange Craft on Youtube, and below for lazy people:
Drone also has a Myspace page where you can listen to the following tracks:
Pulsar
Robotic Fantasy
Strange Craft
Floorrocka
World Trade Center
Healing My Toothache
Now I don’t have a MySpace account mind you (yeah, the only one?) so I can’t contact Drone to beg for a CD of his stuff. Shit, I’d pay if I knew who to pay. So, Drone, if you’re reading this, put some info up on your MySpace site on how to get a CD or email me at dan AT agentdesign.net. There’s money waiting for you.
I already have an iPod Touch, but once the iPhone is available with other carriers I’m getting one (no AT&T in my area). I love the large screen for watching a movie, or my latest download of Robot Chicken! The real exciting thing for the future of the iPhone is the SDK. This opens the cell phone to virtually unlimited possibilities. I’m hoping the iPhone SDK brings some games that I don’t have to have an Internet connection to play.
I think the iPhone SDK developers probably have even better ideas than just games. Helpful applications would be nice too. How about a more advanced word processor? A password vault…protected by a password of course (I have so many accounts in so many different places that I’ve started keeping some on my iPod Touch, and would likely do the same on an iPhone). The ability to play more file types would be nice too, but I honestly don’t know if the SDK and developers will have access to that in the media player portion of the iPhone. If not, maybe they could create a whole new software to access files from on the iPhone.

Phat Toad has thousands of titles from thousands of innovative designers and publishers. No matter the type of software you need, they probably has it.
One of the most popular downloads today is Xoomtube, a online TV software application that allows you to watch over 3000 satellite television channels on your computer. Xoomtube allows you to watch high-quality programming at an affordable price.
Next time you find yourself looking for an application to burn DVD copies, check backlinks for your website, or provide cool PC enhancements, look to Phat Toad Software. In addition to the incredible selection available, they offer titles at a fraction of what giants such as Microsoft and others would charge.
You’ve heard it over and over again… always have Antivirus software on your computer if you plan to do anything online. Well, some of those antivirus programs cost a pretty penny these days. Norton and McAfee cost nearly $30 per year just for their subscriptions. And if you have several computers in your house that’s suddenly a fair chunk of change!
So, let’s take a look at a new free computer protection offering that Google has come out with that allows you to download free Norton AntiVirus! Free? That’s not a bad price, but how good is it?
Well, the Norton software is included in Google’s new Google Pack that includes over a dozen computer programs. The Norton program includes unlimited free Virus-definition updates, plus you’re able to schedule a weekly/daily scan of your computer. A fair number of features for a free program.
What about the other Google Pack programs? Spyware Doctor is another nice program that offers real-time protection from Spyware and free updates as well. Add this program to Norton Antivirus program and you suddenly have a pretty good computer protection package for n-o-t-h-i-n-g!
Plus, the Google Pack has over 10 other interesting programs for free. These programs range from Photo Editing software to Music & Video players. It’s no wonder Google seems to be taking over the internet these days… they’re everywhere with all kinds of products!
Ford’s new Sync technology is like having your very own K.I.T.T., but without the need for that lame watch. Ford calls it “Voice Activated In-Car Technology”, and, in a nut-shell, Sync is voice activated in-car technology. So it appears their marketing firm is communicating this very well indeed!
With Sync, you can control your music and cellphone with your voice. Allowing hands-free use of these accessories keeps your hands on the wheel and attention on the road. With many communities outlawing the use of cell phones while driving (unless they’re hands free) the Ford Sync is a cool option. And their new vehicles are really nice looking (I especially like the Edge).
The next time you’re shopping for a new Ford, ask about the Sync. I’ll be visiting McCafferty Harrisburg Ford to check it out myself.
Mazda is running a contest where you can win an RX-8 that’s been tuned by Jay Laub.
I think it rocks! While I’d get ride of those Photoshop-clipart-esque starbursts, I especially love the doors and the hood! The tires are cool too. What’s under that hood deserves a mention though. The Mazda RX-8’s rotary engine has been enhanced with a supercharger kit. I bet this thing’s a blast to drive.
Go enter the contest. If you win, report back here and tell us how if handles! Or donate it to eNation and receive gratitude…lots and lots of gratitude!
MIS, or the McGrath Information Solution, is a specification aimed at providing information about a media file, be it an image, video, or audio, by imbedding that information directly into it. The idea that I’ve been sponsored to review, then, is that users will have easy access to information regarding a media file they may not have, or may have to go searching for, right at their fingertips.
The application of the MIS specification can be wide-spread. When watching a video you can access information regarding cast, crew, or interesting bits of “did you knows”. There was some cable channel that would have pop-ups during their films of odd facts about a specific scene, except MIS wouldn’t be annoying enough to randomly pop-up on you. Audio files can have info we’re used to with MP3s, and images can tell us who we’re looking at, where they are and when it was taken. More interesting in image cases, in my opinion, would be specific details on how the photographer took the picture. Amateurs would benefit from knowing the aperture and f-stop used to gain a certain affect, impression or detail.
The broader benefit though, and probably the one set to benefit our online world the most, would be the ability for search engines to read the information in order to properly index the file. Imagine better search results for videos, songs and images.
Well, that’s the basics of the MIS specification. I definitly see the positive implications, and as someone who works with search engines for a living, its something to consider as search technology broadens.
I should be living in the future, no way ’round it. I see stuff like this futuristic bed and realize I’m in the wrong time. It’d go well with the milk table and music chair.
I keep running into, oddly enough, techy furniture that I totally dig.
This one is a music chair. A chair with speakers. It doesn’t even look that comfortable, especially for someone like me who is 6 foot 3. It’s basically a quarter egg shape, so no leg room whatsoever. But it looks cool, and plays music….because a comfortable chair and my stereo sometimes just isn’t enough.
