The Music Chair

Filed under: Gadgets — Dan @ 5:43 pm

I keep running into, oddly enough, techy furniture that I totally dig.

This one is a music chair. A chair with speakers. It doesn’t even look that comfortable, especially for someone like me who is 6 foot 3. It’s basically a quarter egg shape, so no leg room whatsoever. But it looks cool, and plays music….because a comfortable chair and my stereo sometimes just isn’t enough.

HP Ink Cartridges

Filed under: Computers — Dan @ 8:02 pm

Ok, so I checked out an online store where you can buy ink cartridges for HP printers. True, they’ve got toner cartridges for other printers too (like Dell, Canon, Brother, Lexmark, Epson, Samsung….wait, Samsung makes printers? Who knew! I love Samsung products!)…where was I, oh, I came across the HP cartridges selection/prices/policies of CartridgeSave.co.uk site.

How does one review ink cartridges? They’re small, black, have stickers with cryptic Da Vinci-like codes on them that require the Rosetta Stone to decipher which printers they go with. Not real exciting. But, my conclusion on how exactly to give an opinion on this seemed to come easy…maybe too easy.

That’s because we all hate how much toner costs these days. We buy a $60 printer that comes with free ink, but refills are $60, so we should just buy another printer. Honestly, as horrid as it may sound *slaps self with 10 year old ball mouse* I’ve never thought about buying printer ink online. That changes today! I’ll never step into another store with overpriced ink again! (almost 4 months too late for a new years resolution, but what the hell)

So this CartridgeSave.co.uk offers ink cartridges, and, actually, at cheaper than you might expect prices.

And, they ship your Hewlett-Packard (or Dell, Epson, SAMSUNG…yadda yadda yadda) ink cartridges to you free. So you save on gas too, and that’s no small thing these days. And time, sure time too. And I don’t have to get dressed, which is nice. My teeth can continue to rot and belly-button lint continue to collect. Because, outside is so 1997.

What’s cool too, though, is if that HP toner doesn’t work (maybe the squid was sick?) then you can actually return it. They give you 30 days. If its little plastic self is broken, you return it to them and get your money back.

So what’s not to like? Affordable HP ink, free delivery, and if it don’t work…no prob. I guess buying toner from CartridgeSave.co.uk is the smart thing to do.

As you were, people.

Second Life Movie…and Second Life Hustler?

An interesting little film series has appeared about, and filmed in, the online game Second Life. It’s a tale of someone who has left the real world behind, for the digital one. He then seems to feel a lost connection to his loved ones (in his first life) as he becomes more attached to those in Second Life. He explores these feelings in a film series rendered from game images in Second Life.

Here is the first in the series:

And did you see the Second Life Hustler domain on eBay?

Sony’s affordable Blu-Ray Player

Filed under: Uncategorized — Dan @ 6:52 pm

If you’ve been waiting for HD DVD or Blu-Ray players to get more affordable before purchasing, today’s your day. Sony’s newest Blu-Ray player (the BDP-S300) will be $599. This seems high for a player when you consider that you can get a decent DVD player for about $100, but if you’ve already dumped cash into a nice HDTV, then getting the most out of it with a Blu-Ray player has a definite appeal.

If you buy it, cross your fingers that Blu-Ray beats out HD DVD in the format war, or you just bought a $599 betamax.

I knew it: HP printers stop working after a certain page count.

Filed under: Computers — Dan @ 9:46 am

Ok, granted, this could be a disgruntled employee, but considering the continuous problems with HP products that people have experienced, the claim by an ex-employee that after a certain number of pre-determined printed pages HP printers stop working does not surprise me.

The article.

Samsung’s Ultra-Music (SPH-M620) on Sprint’s website.

Filed under: Electronic Music, Mobile Phones — Dan @ 3:03 pm

Samsung’s cool new double-sided cell phone/MP3 player, the SPH-M620, or Ultra Music, is listed on Sprint’s website. While it isn’t listed as for sale, or detailed, it is labeled “Coming Soon” in Sprint’s Game Lobby.

It’d be nice if Samsung’s website would give us some details, like an available date…or even month.

The coolest chair ever.

Filed under: Gadgets — Dan @ 10:55 am

Now this is a chair! It has a sweet retro look, comes in fresh colors, and surrounds you in a bubble of music from your MP3 player, laptop, or stereo. Plus, it has noise canceling technology if you just want some peace and quiet. I couldn’t find a price on the site, but I bet it’s worth it.

See the Sonic Chair.

New Samsung products rock!

Filed under: Mobile Phones, Music Players — Dan @ 4:59 pm

I’ve been waiting for the cell phone and MP3 player (either combined into one gadget, or kept as individual products) that’ll make me drool. Turns out Samsung announced them at CES this year. Disregard the iPhone and the iPods, we all know Apple locks you in to having to stay with their products forever (that’s the evil side of iTunes).
The Cell Phone: Samsung’s Ultra Music is slim and sweet. One side’s got the phone, granted with a small screen, and the other’s got the MP3 player. It’s even sporting a 1 to 2 (reports differ) megapixel camera. The onboard memory is a measly 100mb, but it takes microSD cards, so that’ll give you 2gb. The downer is it will be released on Sprint, a provider which doesn’t have coverage in the uber-boonies I live in.
The MP3 Player: Even though I could just use the above, Samsung’s K3 is too sweet to not get (I’m saving my Christmas gift certs for it). It’s a very slim flash-based player with up to 8gb of memory, just enough for me to consider.

Both the above should be available in March.
